I've studied art for ten years, using a vast array of materials including but not limited to pastels and water colors before selecting oils as my preferred medium. The preparation of each portrait begins with preparing the base, a smooth wooden board strengthened with a base of natural white paste which strongly complements the oils used for the portrait. Techniques such as these have been utilized by artists since the Middle Ages when capturing the particularities of their models. I begin each session in a calm and relaxed state which I find thanks to hours of preparation and focus developed through my years as a painter. I use oils as my preferred medium as they allow my the time to capture all the details of the model. The final painting may take several months of preparation; however, through these intense techniques, I ensure each portrait is my very best work. Next... |
